Can Food really make you smarter? Yes, Food enhances Smartness!

Can food really make you smarter?

We believe that education is one of the most important things in life, and we dedicate our time and energy to improving ourselves and constantly learning new things. We believe in hobbies, brain teasers, riddles, Sudoku, and simple mathematics problems; we are sure that these will make us smarter and more intelligent. We solve different tests, envy those who are members of MENSA, and wish that we could be as smart as Dr House.

Is there anything besides ‘exercising our brain’ that we can do to become smarter?

1. Oily fish and fish oil

Omega-3 fatty acids do wonders for your brain and body in whole. They are extremely beneficial, but cannot be produced by your body; instead, they have to be taken in through food and supplements. Fish rich in this nutrient is salmon, sardines, and herrings. One the plus side, canned and fresh fish are both acceptable and rich in nutrients so you can easily prepare two such meals a week. Omega-3 fatty acids help develop and maintain the brain tissue, so fill up your plate and enjoy.

2. Bittersweet pleasure

Chocolate lover all over the world love the fact that this ‘food of the Gods’ is good for the mind as well. Cocoa is great antioxidant and will improve your memory; even though it must be said that only the highest quality dark chocolate rich in cocoa (so, basically, the bitter one) is the best one for the brain. The sugar-filled cheap ones (we all like, sadly) are not a good substitute for the real chocolate since they have low percent of cocoa. You can eat it alone or you can use it to make healthy snacks – dark chocolate covered bananas with peanut butter is an amazingly healthy snack good for your body and mind alike.

3. Just ‘B’ things

You’d be surprised how many fruits and vegetables good for your brain begins with B. It is just a coincidence, no doubt, but is a funny fact nevertheless. Let’s start with broccoli, blueberries, brussels sprouts, brown rice, and blackberries; and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. All green vegetables are generally good for you, nut broccoli and brussels sprouts are at the top of the list. The trick is to eat only organic food; otherwise you’ll only be feeding your mind and body with growth hormones and pesticides. Finding good quality food has never been easier, you can order organic food online. With all these fruits and vegetables just a mouse click away, it is easy to feed your brain.

Just ‘B’ things

Brain food’ is not miracle food, it will not turn you into a mathematics-problem-solving machine, and you will not become a genius if you eat a handful of walnuts. It will, however, do your brain some good and allow you to develop further. Your mind will be sharper in the future and you will notice that those ‘brain teaser’ exercises are not as difficult as they used to be and you can memorize more things. It is not miracle food, but it does help a lot.
