Looking after your body is crucial not only for physical health but also for mental health as there is nothing better than feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin. When you think of women who exemplify this, it is hard not to immediately think of top models who diligently work out and eat for the body they have.
From studying their health and wellness habits, you can quickly see that food and exercise together form the body, and both areas need to be worked on in order to enhance your shape and health.
If you are interested to learn more, keep on reading for four tips to get the body of a model.
1. Don’t fall for bad habits or quick fixes.
Even if you are desperate to learn how to become a model, you don’t want to be falling for bad habits or promised weight loss quick fixes that are going to make you unhealthy.
Strategies such as skipping meals, obsessively weighing yourself, limiting your eating to one food group, or binge eating and purging are unsustainable and dangerous. They certainly are not the way to get a healthy, strong, lithe body of a model.
Instead, from the get-go, you want to have a realistic mindset about your goals and why you are looking to transform your body. Even with a well-formulated plan of action, it is essential to know the answer to the question “why.” By knowing why your goals are the way they are, you can find strength in them when you start to get discouraged or feel like falling off your healthy eating and fitness plan.
Remember that it takes time to see results, but enjoying the process will make it a lot easier. Before you know it, your body will look more lean and toned.
2. Do become a pro at reading labels.
While many people think that they are eating clean and healthy all the time, they may be surprised to know about what they are inadvertently putting into their bodies when they start reading food labels.
For this reason, it is essential that you become a pro at reading nutrition labels on the food products that you buy when grocery shopping. This is crucial for understanding what kinds of food you are eating, how many calories you are consuming, and all the sneaky ways that sugar is being added into your favorite grocery items.
However, keep in mind that your healthiest choices are always going to be foods that don’t have nutritional labels because they come just as nature made them – raw, fresh, and unprepared fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, fish, eggs, and meat are what you want to be consuming the most.
Over time, seek to shift your diet over to include as many additive-free foods as possible. However, don’t overwhelm yourself trying to change everything at once, though; instead, build one small change on top of another, and you are guaranteed to start feeling and looking better.
3. Don’t ignore cardio.
While barre and Pilates are great workouts and much-loved by models around the world, you still need to be incorporating cardio sessions into your weekly workout routines. Running is the most obvious cardio choice because you can do it anywhere with no equipment required, and it will bring results if you are looking to burn calories.
That being said, if running isn’t up your alley or you just want to mix it up from time to time, there are plenty of other great cardio workouts for you to try that burn just as many (if not more) calories.
Skipping, for example, can burn a significant amount of calories, particularly if it is done as part of interval training. Additionally, swimming, cycling, trampolining, and rowing are high-calorie burners that provide you with an all over body workout.
4. Do treat yourself in moderation.
As one of the highest-paid models in the world, Gigi Hadid knows a lot about keeping her body and mind healthy and strong. A few years ago she shared her refreshing lifestyle mantra “I always say, ‘Eat clean to stay fit; have a burger to stay sane,'” which is something that most aspiring models would probably like to get behind.
Here’s the thing, not eating clean, working out, and looking after yourself holistically is going to make you feel moody, sluggish, and lacking in confidence (something that no one wants). However, completely denying yourself any type of treat is going to make it a lot more challenging for you to stay on track 90% of the time.
For this reason, look to give yourself one day a week when you are able to indulge in your favorite foods, take a rest day from working out, and enjoy your life (that is what Saturday is for!) – just make sure to get right back on the healthy bandwagon the next day!
