Hemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen veins located around the anus or in the lower rectum. It is of two types internal and external. Internal hemorrhoid results in rectal bleeding during defecating. External hemorrhoids result in pain and swelling in anus. The common symptoms of hemorrhoids are itching, soreness and redness in the anal region, pain occurs while passing stools, bleeding during defecation.

HOME REMEDIES FOR HEMORRHOIDS

1. Aloe vera

It is anti-inflammatory in nature. It provides relief from itching, swelling, and burning in the anal region. Aloe vera gel can be applied to the anus directly. But keep in mind that gel should be free from preservatives and additives. For that, you should use the natural Aloe Vera Gel directly from the Aloe vera Plant.

2. Coconut Oil

This is a natural moisturizer that helps to get relief from hemorrhoid symptoms.  Coconut oil can be applied to the anus with the help of cotton balls. Coconut oil reduces the irritation, swelling and urge to scratch.

3. Witch Hazel

It is an astringent that causes the contraction of tissues. Apply witch hazel in liquid form directly onto hemorrhoids. It contains tannins that result in reduce bruising and inflammation.

4. Psyllium

Psyllium is a soluble fiber that softens stools so that they can be passed easily. It can easily be added in daily diet. Mix two spoons of Psyllium in warm water and drink this mixture before meal.  It prevents constipation and diarrhea which can cause hemorrhoids.

5. Cinnamon Bark Oil

 This Oil is helpful in tissue growth and relieves swelling. This oil can be used by mixing with melted coconut or almond oil for better results. People with sensitive skin should avoid applying cinnamon oil directly.

6. Peppermint Oil

The menthol component of peppermint gives a soothing effect. It reduces the pressure on the anus and makes bowel movements less painful. If your skin is sensitive then use it in dilute form. This oil can directly be applied to the anus, with the help of cotton.

7. Castor Oil

It is a very effective remedy in hemorrhoids due to its anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Castor oil can be added in milk or applied directly to the affected area. It is helpful in alleviating the pain and symptoms of hemorrhoids.

8. Apple Cider Vinegar

This vinegar is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory in nature which suppresses the inflammation and irritation of hemorrhoids. Add 2 cups of the vinegar in lukewarm water, and let it stir for 15 to 20 minutes. Take a shower with this to rinse your skin.

9. Ice Packs

These packs are helpful in relieving pain and inflammation. Ice numbs pain and reduces swelling. Do not rub ice on the affected part directly wrap the ice in a small cotton towel to avoid skin damage. Repeat the process every hour.

10. Tea Tree Oil

It is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory in nature.  It helps in reducing inflammation and promotes healing. Tea tree oil is very strong if used alone but it is better to mix this oil with coconut and cinnamon oil. Apply this mixture of oil to the affected area with a cotton ball.
